Tour of New School for First Nerrols Pupils.
A group of pupils and their parents had a site tour on Friday, making them the first of the new intake to step foot in Nerrols School. Wearing hard hats and hi vis, the children joined by the school mascot Cheddy the Teddy in a visit to their classrooms, dining hall, cookery and technology room, playground and sports area. The Head Teacher Rhian Locker helped to personally escort them, along with representatives from the construction company Wilmott Dixon, which is building the school.
Nerrols will be completed in the summer, ready to open its doors officially in September to nursery, reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. Eventually 420 pupils will be using the 14 classroom, all weather 3G sports pitch, main hall, hard and soft informal play areas and a habitat area. The nursery, which will be open all year round, is self contained with its own entrance.
Mrs Locker said: “It was a lovely morning and so nice to see some of our very first intake here. I have been making home visits so I have met most of them already, but it was great to be able to actually show them where they will be in September. We are planning a proper official opening once the children have all settled in, so the community will also get the chance to see what an amazing facility this is.”
Other tours for reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils are planned for later this month. Nursery children will visit the school for stay and play sessions on 5th and 6th September before starting on 9th September. For further information please contact RLocker@educ.somerset.gov.uk
