West Coker CofE VC Primary School
'All Life's Strands Entwined'
Our Christian Values are:
Wisdom, Community, Hope, Respect and Kindness
We are proud to be a church school.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which supports our pupils to flourish.
At West Coker School, we strive to instil a love of learning and the desire to succeed. We aim to develop the whole child, in order for them to flourish and so become conscientious, well-equipped citizens of the future.
We feel the story of 'Down Through the Roof' illustrates our values and unique community history.
In this story, four men each hold a rope to lower a friend from a roof for Jesus to heal.
These four ropes represent four of our Values: Wisdom, Community, Hope and Respect. The actions of these men speak of the Kindness (our fifth value) that Jesus demonstrated to us all.
These are the Core Christian Values we believe are most important to our children, both as Christians and as conscientious, well-equipped citizens of the future.
Rope symbolises West Coker and its manufacturing history involving the Twine Works.
A rope needs to be strong and flexible, as we all do in modern society.
It can also be knotted to bind us together and bind us to the church, representing our community. All strands of life entwined.
